L485 Grade X70 PSL2 Seamless Pipe is part of a series of pipes that are under the API 5L specification. These are premium grade pipes that come under 2 product specification levels. The psl2 has slightly higher mechanical properties than the psl1. The X70 ERW Casing Pipe can be quenched or tempered for additional hardness. The pipes range up to 24 inches in outer diameter for the seamless pipes and up to 48 inches in welded pipes. The wall thickness of the pipes ranges up to sch160. This range covers the hot rolled seamless pipes and the cold drawn seamless pipes. There are also API 5L X70 Seamless Pipe  types that are ERW, SAW and other type of manufacturing processes. The minimum yield strength of the pipes is at 70ksi and therefore they get the grading as X70.

The material has carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, vanadium, niobium and titanium in the composition and has high corrosion resistance. The API 5l grade X70 pipe is essentially a carbon steel made pipe that has high wear and tear resistance and toughness. These pipes are suitable to convey oil and gas for longer distances and therefore are used as line pipes. The API 5l gr. x70 psl-2 ERW Pipe is used in oil and gas, petrochemical, petroleum, pressure vessel and in other high temperature and high pressure applications. The pipes do not require pre heating and can be welded with most traditional welding methods without the need for filler materials.
